Armenian Keyboard Online

A free virtual Armenian keyboard. Type Armenian on any computer or phone. Click the keys, or type on your own keyboard: the phonetic layout puts each Armenian letter on the Latin key that sounds like it.

How to use the Armenian keyboard

Click or tap any key to add that character to the text box.

On a computer you can also type on your physical keyboard. The keys follow the Armenian Phonetic layout, so pressing A gives ա and pressing B gives բ. The small grey character on a key shows the matching key on a US English keyboard. Untick “Type Armenian with my physical keyboard” to go back to your keyboard's normal letters.

When you are done, press Copy and paste the text into an email, a document or a chat. The “Search with” buttons open Google, YouTube, Wikipedia or Google Translate with what you typed.

Armenian letters on this keyboard

Most of the 38 Armenian letters sit on the Latin key that sounds like them: S gives ս, M gives մ and V gives վ. Letters without a Latin match are on the number row and on the keys to the right of P: 1 gives է and 2 gives թ.

Shift gives capitals, and Caps works too. Armenian punctuation is there as well: the full stop ։ on Shift + ;, and the question mark ՞, which goes over the stressed vowel, on Shift + /.

The digits are on AltGr with the number keys, because the number row types letters.

Questions

Do I need to install anything?

No. The keyboard runs in your browser and works without changing any settings on your computer or phone.

Which Armenian layout is this?

Armenian Phonetic, the layout most people in Armenia use on computers. Each letter is on the Latin key that sounds like it, so it is quick to learn.

How do I type digits?

Hold AltGr and press the number keys. Without AltGr, the number row types Armenian letters.

Is this Eastern or Western Armenian?

The layout follows Eastern Armenian sounds, as used in Armenia, but every Armenian letter is on it, so you can type Western Armenian too.

Is my text saved or sent anywhere?

Your text is kept only in your own browser so it is still there if you reload the page. It is not sent to us. Press Clear to remove it. If you use a “Search with” button, your text is sent to that site as a search.
