Italian Keyboard Online
A free virtual Italian keyboard. Type à, è, é, ì, ò and ù on any computer or phone. Click the keys, or type on your own keyboard as if it were an Italian one.
How to use the Italian keyboard
Click or tap any key to add that character to the text box.
On a computer you can also type on your physical keyboard. The keys follow the Italian keyboard, so the key to the right of P gives è and the key to the right of L gives ò. The small grey character on a key shows the matching key on a US English keyboard. Untick “Type Italian with my physical keyboard” to go back to your keyboard's normal letters.
When you are done, press Copy and paste the text into an email, a document or a chat. The “Search with” buttons open Google, YouTube, Wikipedia or Google Translate with what you typed.
Italian accents on this keyboard
The accented vowels have keys of their own on the right of the keyboard: è is to the right of P (é with Shift), ò and à are to the right of L, ù is next to à, and ì is to the left of Backspace.
AltGr shows the third layer: € on E and 5, @ on the ò key, # on the à key, and the square and curly brackets on the è and + keys.
Caps only affects letters: the è, ò, à, ù and ì keys always type small letters, as on Windows.
Questions
Do I need to install anything?
No. The keyboard runs in your browser and works without changing any settings on your computer or phone.
How do I type à, è, ò and the other accented vowels?
They have keys of their own: è is to the right of P (é with Shift), ò and à are to the right of L, ù is next to à, and ì is to the left of Backspace.
How do I type a capital È?
Italian keyboards have no key for it. On Windows, hold Alt and type 0200 on the numeric keypad (0201 gives É); on a Mac, turn on Caps Lock and press the è key. Or copy it from here: È.
Where are @ and #?
Hold AltGr and press the ò key for @, or the à key for #.
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
Your text is kept only in your own browser so it is still there if you reload the page. It is not sent to us. Press Clear to remove it. If you use a “Search with” button, your text is sent to that site as a search.
