Thai Keyboard Online

A free virtual Thai keyboard. Type Thai on any computer or phone. Click the keys, or type on your own keyboard as if it were a Thai one, in the standard Kedmanee layout.

How to use the Thai keyboard

Click or tap any key to add that character to the text box.

On a computer you can also type on your physical keyboard. The keys follow the standard Thai Kedmanee layout, so pressing D gives ก and pressing K gives า. The small grey character on a key shows the matching key on a US English keyboard. Untick “Type Thai with my physical keyboard” to go back to your keyboard's normal letters.

When you are done, press Copy and paste the text into an email, a document or a chat. The “Search with” buttons open Google, YouTube, Wikipedia or Google Translate with what you typed.

Thai letters on this keyboard

Thai has 44 consonants and many vowel and tone marks, so the keyboard uses two layers: the most common characters are on the normal layer, and the rest come with Shift.

Vowels and tone marks that sit above or below a letter are typed after it, and the keys show them on a dotted circle, such as ◌้. For example, type น, then ◌้, then ำ to get น้ำ (water).

Caps works like holding Shift on every key, as on Windows. The Thai digits ๑ to ๙ and ๐ are on the Shift layer.

Questions

Do I need to install anything?

No. The keyboard runs in your browser and works without changing any settings on your computer or phone.

Which Thai layout is this?

Kedmanee, the standard layout printed on nearly every Thai keyboard. Pattachote, an older alternative, is rarely used.

How do I type a tone mark?

Type the consonant first, then the tone mark: H gives ◌้ (mai tho) and J gives ◌่ (mai ek). For น้ำ, type น, then ◌้, then ำ.

Where are the Thai digits?

On the Shift layer: Shift + Q gives ๐, and Shift + 2 to 5 give ๑ to ๔.

Is my text saved or sent anywhere?

Your text is kept only in your own browser so it is still there if you reload the page. It is not sent to us. Press Clear to remove it. If you use a “Search with” button, your text is sent to that site as a search.
