Hebrew Keyboard Online
Type Hebrew on any computer or phone. Click the keys, or type on your own keyboard and the letters come out in Hebrew.
How to use the Hebrew keyboard
Click or tap any key to add that character to the text box. Hebrew is written from right to left, so the text starts at the right edge and grows leftwards.
On a computer you can also type on your physical keyboard. The keys follow the standard Israeli layout, so pressing A gives ש and pressing T gives א. The small grey character on a key shows the matching key on a US English keyboard. Untick “Type Hebrew with my physical keyboard” to go back to your keyboard's normal letters.
When you are done, press Copy and paste the text into an email, a document or a chat. The “Search with” buttons open Google, YouTube, Wikipedia or Google Translate with what you typed.
The Hebrew alphabet on this keyboard
Hebrew has 22 letters and is written from right to left. Five of them (כ, מ, נ, פ, צ) take a different shape at the end of a word: ך, ם, ן, ף, ץ. Each final form has its own key. Hebrew has no capital letters, so Shift and Caps give English capitals and symbols, just as they do on a Hebrew keyboard in Israel.
Press AltGr to see the third layer, which has the shekel sign ₪ on the 4 key and the niqqud vowel points on the letter keys. Most sit on the letter that starts their Hebrew name: qamats on ק, patah on פ, shva on ש, segol on ס, tsere on צ and hiriq on ח.
Questions
Do I need to install anything?
No. The keyboard runs in your browser and works without changing any settings on your computer or phone.
How do I type niqqud (vowel points)?
Type the letter first, then press AltGr on the on-screen keyboard and choose the vowel point. On a physical keyboard, hold the right Alt key and press the letter key. Hover over a key to see the name of the mark.
Where is the shekel sign ₪?
Press AltGr and then 4.
Why do brackets look reversed?
In right-to-left text an opening bracket faces the other way. The bracket keys are swapped so that the key you press matches the shape you see, the same as on a Hebrew keyboard.
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
Your text is kept only in your own browser so it is still there if you reload the page. It is not sent to us. Press Clear to remove it. If you use a “Search with” button, your text is sent to that site as a search.
