How to use the Georgian keyboard
Click or tap any key to add that character to the text box.
On a computer you can also type on your physical keyboard. The keys follow the Georgian QWERTY layout, so pressing A gives ა and pressing B gives ბ. The small grey character on a key shows the matching key on a US English keyboard. Untick “Type Georgian with my physical keyboard” to go back to your keyboard's normal letters.
When you are done, press Copy and paste the text into an email, a document or a chat. The “Search with” buttons open Google, YouTube, Wikipedia or Google Translate with what you typed.
Georgian letters on this keyboard
Georgian has 33 letters and no capitals in everyday writing. Most sit on the Latin key that sounds like them: G gives გ, M gives მ and S gives ს.
Seven letters without a Latin match are on Shift: Shift + T gives თ, Shift + S gives შ, Shift + C gives ჩ, Shift + Z gives ძ, Shift + W gives ჭ, Shift + R gives ღ and Shift + J gives ჟ.
Shift + L gives the lari sign ₾. AltGr gives letters of the older alphabet, such as ჱ and ჲ, and the quotation marks „ and “.

Do I need to install anything?
No. The keyboard runs in your browser and works without changing any settings on your computer or phone.
Which Georgian layout is this?
Georgian QWERTY, the layout most people in Georgia use: each letter is on the matching Latin key. The older layout, based on the Russian keyboard, is rarely used now.
How do I type თ, შ, ჩ and the other letters?
Hold Shift: Shift + T gives თ, Shift + S gives შ and Shift + C gives ჩ. Without Shift, the same keys give ტ, ს and ც.
Why does Caps Lock change nothing?
Georgian has no capital letters in everyday writing, so Caps Lock has nothing to do, just as on the Georgian keyboard in Windows.
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
Your text is kept only in your own browser so it is still there if you reload the page. It is not sent to us. Press Clear to remove it. If you use a “Search with” button, your text is sent to that site as a search.
