Hindi Keyboard Online
Type Hindi in Devanagari on any computer or phone. Click the keys, or type on your own keyboard using the standard InScript layout.
How to use the Hindi keyboard
Click or tap any key to add that character to the text box.
On a computer you can also type on your physical keyboard. The keys follow InScript, the standard Indian layout, so pressing K gives क and pressing H gives प. The small grey character on a key shows the matching key on a US English keyboard. Untick “Type Hindi with my physical keyboard” to go back to your keyboard's normal letters.
When you are done, press Copy and paste the text into an email, a document or a chat. The “Search with” buttons open Google, YouTube, Wikipedia or Google Translate with what you typed.
How the Hindi keyboard is arranged
InScript puts vowel signs (matras) under the left hand and consonants under the right. Shift gives the full vowel in place of its sign, and the aspirated partner of a consonant: K is क and Shift + K is ख.
Type the consonant first and the vowel sign after it, even when the sign is drawn to the left: क then F gives कि.
To join consonants, put a halant (्, on the D key) between them: क, halant, य gives क्य. Common conjuncts such as क्ष, त्र and ज्ञ are on Shift with the number keys. AltGr with a number key gives the Devanagari digits ०–९.
